About Jerilyn

I announce my candidacy for Manitowoc County Circuit Court Branch 2. I bring a wide range of legal knowledge and an established track record of public service both in the courtroom and in the community.

The majority of my legal career has been spent as a prosecutor representing the State of Wisconsin in criminal cases. In 2010 I was recognized by the Wisconsin Victim Witness Professionals Assoication for outstanding victim advocacy by a professional for my work with crime victims. I have been hired by multiple counties to work as a special prosecutor since leaving my State employment. For the last four plus years, I have worked at Mozinski & Cashman, a Manitowoc law firm, as a general practice attorney, working in family law, small claims and large claims civil cases, estate planning and probate, guardianships and alternatives to them, landlord-tenant work, and even some defense work. I have also been employed by Manitowoc County as a guardian ad litem, representing the best interests of children and vulnerable adults. I am a supplemental court commissioner, and I also worked as temporary criminal court commissioner for the six months the job was needed.

I am also a volunteer in our community. I am currently the President of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Manitowoc County Board of Directors and serve on the finance committee of the board of directors for Felician Village / St. Mary’s Home for the Aged. I served as legal consultant for the Prison Rape Elimination Act through the Department of Justice, and have been an invited speaker for Department of Justice law enforcement trainings on multiple occasions.

On a more personal note, I live in Manitowoc with my husband of ten plus years, Ryan, and our two children.  On top of my own volunteer activities, my family is involved in our local church, the Manitowoc County Youth Hockey Association, the Manitowoc County Figure Skating Club, the Manitowoc Goalgetters Soccer Club and Kindermusik.

I have extensive legal experience and a proven commitment to fairness. I believe the law should be available to all, and equally applied to all. If elected, I will be a fair and impartial decision maker and live that credo.

I believe a judge:

  • must listen to all parties and ensure the rule of law, equal application of the law, and access to the law for all.
  • should be involved in the community in order to serve as a leader on the bench and off.
  • should always be learning, listening, and working cooperatively to be part of the solution to community problems
